The court procedures for persons charged with crimes are explained here:

Felony
Misdemeanor

You have the right to an attorney if you are charged with a felony or a serious misdemeanor. If you cannot afford an attorney, the court will appoint the Tri-County Public Defenders Office to defend you.

I am not allowed to speak directly to anyone who is represented by an attorney. I can only speak to that person's attorney. Please do not try to contact me directly if you have an attorney.

While you have the right to forego an attorney and represent yourself, I do not think that is a good idea. If you choose to represent yourself, I will only speak to you in open court so that there are no misunderstandings about what I am telling you.
